Enosi Archives

The Enosi Archives are a collection of disparate and disconnected artworks, ephemera, and writings by members of the Pink Acolyte Union artist collective (est. 1926). Many of these objects were originally found in donations to other collections, including the Kylä Media Collection, Jobber Papers, and yet-to-be-classified materials. They are organized here due to their connection to one another. A finding aid is in progress and will be available soon as all objects are currently being cataloged and organized.

Series 1-2: Marco diGatti Papers + Realia

The beginning of this collection is the beginning of the Pink Acolyte Union itself. Marco diGatti (1835-1926) was a stone mason and self-taught ceramicist who informally founded the Pink Acolyte Union in 1855. While the group would not formally unite until 1926, it was diGatti who became the first “Pink Acolyte”, the title bestowed upon the spiritual leader of the group. DiGatti believed he was in contact with a being he called his esha sorti, what we now know as the Terrifying Pink Thing. It was through communing with the esha sorti that he crafted ritual bowls, cups, and other objects. Series 1 contains the majority of his papers, while Series 2 includes what remains of his physical ceramics.
