Artist unknown, automatic drawing, c. 1867, watercolor and ink on paper, 9 x 12 in.

One of the oldest objects in the entirety of the Luscinia Historical Society’s collection, this drawing has little contextual information to understand what is occuring. Its style is reminiscent of British spiritualist artists Georgiana Houghton (1814-1884) and Anna Mary Howitt (1824-1884). Many of the drawings in this collection are possibly made by the same artist with similar influences.
