Announcing our new Executive Director
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 01/05/2026
The Luscinia Historical Society announces the appointment of Shannon Zamir (DTh) as the new Executive Director, overseeing all operations managing and collections acquisition. Dr. Zamir is taking over after a nearly 30-year prolific tenure by Director Emeritus Dr. Patrick Solovey (1997-2026). While Dr. Solovey will be missed, he leaves the organizing fulfilling one final project; the establishment of the Azimuth Collection.

In his final address to staff and volunteers, Dr. Solovey expressed a solemn contentment with his work. “It is my greatest joy that my final project as director is to formalize the archival collection that began my tenure. I only hope that archivists and researchers in the future will be able to solve its mysteries that continue to perplex me.”
When asked about her vision as Executive Director, Dr. Zamir confidently stated her intentions to build innovative expansions to current programming, saying, “my first goal is establishing contemporary field research to compliment our vast archive of spiritualist and paranormal ephemera. We are beginning by researching local legends, including the Mud Mermaids of the Ohio river, the Loveland Frogman, and of course the Terrifying Pink Thing.”
Current Archivist Neil Daigle Orians expressed hope for the new direction, saying, “I’m excited to work with Dr. Zamir and see how she can further the development of our organization. I’m hoping we can work towards sustainability and ethical compensation of our hardworking staff.” Orians’ role as Archivist will continue to be compensated through a non-deductible $600/month stipend in the form of an in-kind donation.
